Jordaan: It is not true…

The newly elected President of the South African Football Association, Danny Jordaan, says that the outcome of last weekend’s elections demonstrates his effective leadership as boss of the mother body.
Critics, particularly those who do not support him, have accused Jordaan of neglecting grassroots football development.
The other allegation is that his focus is predominantly on the senior national teams – Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana – because that affords him opportunities such as complimentary flights to international football tournaments.
Jordaan contends that he has significantly contributed to the professional development of coaches nationwide by facilitating their acquisition of coaching qualifications.
“For the first time, you find South African coaches are now sought after in all African countries,” Jordaan told the media this week, following his victory.
“We have coaches in Egypt, in Morocco, and these are two leading countries in the African continent.
“Banyana Banyana went to the Last 16 in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. This is a massive achievement from where we started, from a zero base.
“So, when people talk… It is not true that nothing has happened in South African football.

“Why are people still voting for these executives? It’s because they really study football, they are on the ground, they understand what is happening,” he added.
Jordaan staved off competition from Sandile Zungu for the SAFA presidency at the elective congress held in Midrand last weekend.
